Woodcliff Lake, NJ, May 8, 2015 - Catalogic Software, the leading software provider of intelligent copy data solutions, today announced that IBM has invited Catalogic CEO, Ed Walsh, to address a group session at IBM Edge 2015 to be held May 11-15, 2015 at The Venetian in Las Vegas.
Walsh’s session will describe how a software-defined copy data management solution can transform an IT team’s ability to deliver mission critical services. Combined with IBM storage, a software-defined copy data management solution enables key functions that rely on the management and use of copies of production data, including: data protection, disaster recovery, development & test, hybrid cloud, and others. The integration of ECX, Catalogic’s flagship copy data management platform, and IBM storage is a prime example of how IBM partners with best-of-breed software providers to deliver world-class solutions to its clients. The session will include a live product demonstration that previews ECX’s integration with IBM storage, showcasing ECX’s ability to manage, orchestrate and analyze copy data utilizing IBM’s underlying storage services.
The session, entitled Copy Data Management: Automated Disaster Recovery & Agile Test/Dev for Storwize & Flash Copy Manager, will be held on Wednesday May 13th, from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Venetian Lido 3005 conference room.
Walsh, a former IBM executive, appreciates the opportunity to bring the joint Catalogic-IBM offering to market, commenting, “We are thrilled to participate in this year’s Edge conference so that we can demonstrate the power of the joint Catalogic-IBM solution. IBM’s software-defined infrastructure vision is closely aligned with what we are hearing from our clients every day, and the combination of our software-only copy data management platform and IBM’s best of breed storage delivers a powerful and elegant solution to IT’s most challenging business operations today.”
Catalogic Software’s ECX is an intelligent copy data management platform that allows organizations to manage, orchestrate and analyze the copy data lifecycle across the enterprise and the cloud. By doing so, ECX allows IT organizations to leverage data copies to enable mission critical business operations while dramatically simplifying operations and reducing capital expenditures. ECX is a software only solution, deployed as a virtual appliance that allows the IT team to exploit the existing storage investment it has made. ECX is in production in IT environments across the globe.
“A major aspect of IBM’s software-defined strategy entails tapping into the value delivered by its ecosystem partners, and IBM clients benefit from the largest ecosystem partner network on the market today. Catalogic is a great example of how IBM allows its clients to benefit from 3rd party software in conjunction with IBM’s premier storage solutions,” said Jamie Thomas, General Manager, IBM Storage and Software Defined.
IBM Edge is IBM’s premier annual conference, bringing together IBM clients, channel partners, and technology partners for a four-day event packed with rich technical and business sessions. At IBM Edge 2015, attendees will participate in a multifaceted event culminating in a best-in-class Executive Summit and three Technical Universities: Storage Systems, z Systems and Power Systems.
